THE YARN 
The super-soft wool Genevieve has selected for the Leslie is locally sourced and spun by a celebrated Aberdeenshire mill. The secret to its luxurious handle is the fact it comes from the ‘first clip’ of the lamb – an initial shear known for its unrivalled softness. Finer and more expensive, it produces a garment of exceptionally high quality without compromising on its authentic Shetland character. Once spun, it is then brushed using the teasel thistle – a rarely used specialist technique that further enhances the sumptuously soft handle.

Genevieve creates the Leslie’s warming red hue through a carefully-balanced colour melange of deep spice, fiery red with subtle hints of ochre.

Completely natural and highly effective, the teasel thistle has for centuries been used to brush and soften yarn.
